Adapting Plans for Travel

Taking vacations and traveling is part of everyday life for many people. Most of us will travel to a vacation spot or visit family at some time during the year, while others may travel for work or other obligations. Adults and children with seizures may have special questions and concerns about types of travel, safety issues to consider, and how to manage seizures safely and appropriately when traveling or in unfamiliar situations.

This preparedness module is intended to help people plan in advance for vacations and travel in relation to their own particular seizure experiences, risks and concerns. Use this content to help you tailor your preparedness plans to your travel plans and teach others how to respond to your seizures safely and appropriately.

People with seizures or their parents and loved ones should also read the other modules, especially Responding to Seizures and Developing Preparedness Plans. The resources and plans found in these sections can easily be applied to travel preparedness. Then visit My Resource Kit and use the forms to keep track of your medical information while traveling.

We hope that being prepared will help you prevent seizure emergencies, stay safe, and have fun during your travels.

In this section, you will find information on:
